Dr. Helen Straubinger came to Franklin Township in 1983 as Counselor in the new Arlington Elementary School. She served there until 1986, when she moved to the Administration Office as Director of Human and Public Relations and Secondary Curriculum Coordinator. She was responsible for implementing the desegregation program and creating the District newsletter. In 1996 she became Assistant Superintendent, then Deputy Superintendent before retiring in 2007. During her career in administration, she worked to make progress in gender equity in school curriculum and programs as well as in compensation to staff. She also led efforts to establish a program for stringed instruments in the schools.
